Dear fellow Singaporeans and friends,

Our former President, the late Mr Ong Teng Cheong, had contributed significantly to the progress of Singapore in various areas. In 1972, Mr Ong was first elected as the Member-of-Parliament (Kim Keat) and in 1993, he was elected as the first Elected President of Singapore, a post he served for six years. The significance and impact of Mr Ong's contributions to Singapore and Singaporeans over a period of 27 years must never be undermined or forgotten.

As a young Singaporean, I am grateful for our nation to have a leader such as Mr Ong. I have set up this personal website solely and only in memory of the late Mr Ong. This website would include details such as his biography, history of public service and quotes from Mr Ong. This personal (non-commercial) website is my own idea and initiative in memory of the late Mr Ong and it is in no way associated with any organizations or bodies in Singapore or elsewhere. I have decided against setting up a guest-book for the simple reason that it is likely to be abused or misused by some visitors. I would also gladly welcome views and suggestions to make this memorial website better. I would be glad to receive emails from Singaporeans who would like to contribute their views / feelings of the late Mr Ong.

I have tried my best to collate as much details, as in-depth and accurate, as I could for this web-site. Nonetheless, I acknowledge that certain quotes or details might not have been as accurate as I would have desired it to be. Internet online and library searches, publications (such as "Managing Political Change in Singapore", "Ong Teng Cheong - Route to Istana", "Governing Singapore" and "Elections in Singapore"), informative websites and past newspaper clippings have provided me with much more understanding, information and ideas for this site. My search for more details and information is on-going and I will seek to update this site whenever possible.

The views and comments expressed in this website by myself and/or fellow Singaporeans are mine/theirs alone and do not reflect those of the family of the late Mr Ong Teng Cheong. This website is solely meant for fellow Singaporeans like ourselves who would always have fond and everlasting memories of our former President and First Lady, Madam Ling Siew May.
